Updated on December 2, 2010

Why you should see WildeBeast migrating

It is one of the spectacle scene witnesses during Wildebeest migration from Serengeti Park in Tanzania to Maasai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya. Those that are coming to tour Kenya and Tanzania should come at a time when these animals are moving across river Mara, and from the comfort of your hotel you will watch all the action as if it were a movie, estimated at 1.4 million Wildebeest and world largest animal collection at a time, and to complete the show the 1.4 million Wilde beast are accompanied by and 200,000 zebra and gazelle, relentlessly tracked by Africa’s great predators known as crocodile.

The strange thing about this pilgrimage is that Wilder beast migrate in a clockwise fashion year, probably this gives them more strength as they move across River Mara, during migration Wildebeest covers over 1,800 miles annually to search for the greener pastures which is always on the other boarder.

It is approximated that 400,000 Wilder Beast are born during migration period which is about six weeks while still enjoy fresh grass during January and March.

Tourists staying at the Governor’s Camps in the Mara and at Migration Camp in the Serengeti have been seeing hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra daily.

The Migratory Path

During December, January, February, and March the most impressive wildlife sanctuary in the world are the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area and these are the best times for tourists to visit these places.

The most spectacular moves start in July, August, September, and October when the Wilder beast and Zebra start crossing the Mara River, and with the predators on waiting for the pray to fall. Ironically Wilder Beast predators kill smaller percentage of the crossing herds but major death result from crumbling on how to get into the River and avoid the crocodiles.

When visiting Kenya and Tanzania, makes sure you come at a time when Wilder beast are migrating and you will see one of the natural movement of animals in the world. Did you know that the wilder beast calve is born and up and running in the next five minutes
